Gata de Gorgos: Idyllic basket-making town on the wildly romantic Gorgos

Gata de Gorgos is known for its basketry, furniture and restaurants. Directly adjacent to the city is the magnificent nature reserve Vall de Cavall.

At the foot of the Montgo is the small town of Gata de Gorgos. This typical Spanish village enchants with numerous alleys, which can also confuse the inexperienced motorist. The city is known for its basketmaking art. In the shops the Gataner sell baskets, bags and carpets and often the works of art are still made by themselves.

The city is divided by the Gorgos, a river whose dried-up bed is overgrown by greenery most of the year and only the rugged rocks can be seen.

However, when the Gota Fria comes, the gutter quickly becomes a huge stream, which makes its way over huge waterfalls. Particularly impressive is the large railway bridge that crosses the Gorgos.

The town is bordered by a huge nature reserve. At its foot is the Vall de Cavall, an excellent restaurant with an attached private stable.
